How auto-redaction decides what to hide
When YomuScan reads the text on a page, it looks for patterns that usually identify a person or an account, and puts a black box over them. You review every box before you export or share.
What it looks for
- National ID numbers: US Social Security and ITIN, Singapore NRIC and FIN, Hong Kong ID, UK National Insurance, Vietnam CCCD
- Passport numbers on lines that mention a passport
- Card numbers that pass the Luhn check, bank account numbers and IBANs
- Phone numbers in international, North American and other common formats, and email addresses
What it leaves alone
Amounts like $1,552.00, dates like 2026-10-19, and order numbers. If something is hidden that shouldn’t be, tap the box to remove it.
Why the box is permanent
Redaction is burned into the image pixels and the hidden words are removed from the searchable text, so nobody can lift the box off in another PDF reader.
Always check before sharing.Driver’s licenses differ by state and country and aren’t detected automatically yet. Drag to cover anything we missed.
